Alice Gandy, Foundation Coordinator, is excited to announce receipt of the first donation to Claiborne Healthcare Foundation from Ed Watson on January 16, 2008. Mr. and Mrs. Watson are enthusiastic supporters of local healthcare as Mrs. Watson, Chloe Ellen, serves on the Homer Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. Claiborne Healthcare Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) corporation which exists to fund specific hospital capital projects identified by the Foundation board. Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible and every dollar given during this campaign will be used to support the first designated project, the complete renovation of the Intensive Care Unit. Mr. Watson’s donation has begun the process and Claiborne Healthcare Foundation is now open for business!

Chris Bowman, Jonesboro Attorney, and his wife, Donna, are pictured making a Claiborne Healthcare Foundation donation to Ronald Day, Foundation Board Chairman, and Doug Efferson, Homer Memorial Hospital Administrator, on January 31, 2008. In sharing his passion for the development of the Foundation with his friends, Ronald Day’s conversation resulted in a generous gift. Although Mr. and Mrs. Bowman reside in Jonesboro, their family spends a lot of time at their home on Lake Claiborne and voiced their desire to have access to a state-of-the-art healthcare facility. In appreciation for the Bowmans’ interest, Mr. Efferson conducted a tour of the Emergency Department construction and also shared his vision of using Foundation donations to continue making capital improvements at the hospital. This is another example of how friends of Claiborne Parish can express support for an organization that transforms donations into tangible healthcare benefits and ensure the future of the only acute care hospital in the parish!
